the F U T U R E !

If you thought 2011 is advanced, imagine how it would be like in ten years! 2020! I predict that the future of the Internet will be so advanced, people literally would not have to go anywhere! More than 50% of what I do today is on the internet. I shop online, go to school online, order food and keep up with my friends through the net. I think that the Internet will eventually be everywhere we go and probably the main source of how we find, read and see things. Not everyone has internet today, but I'm sure by then everyone will have it and it would probably be required to have internet.

PRIME TIME.

CSI: Miami is a highly watched television show and is also a series from the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. This show has been airing on CBS for 9 years from 2002 to present time today. The show was recently renewed with a new season. I've always been a fan of their show because they solve crime sometimes involving teens or young adults and being present. For example, one of the recent episodes played music that is actually popular right now. Their stories aren't old and boring, and the show always keeps me wondering the whole time.

The basic cast in CSI: Miami are five heterosexual men. Three white: Horatio, Ryan and Frank. One hispanic, Eric and one black,Walter and two heterosexual woman, one white, Calleigh and the other hispanic, Natatlia. All of the actors are around the mid 30's except for the main character, Horatio who looks around his mid 40's. Walter would be the only "overweight" one. The woman in the show dress sophisticated, classy not trashy. Even though they are the only two girls on the team, they are highly respected by the men they work with.

Throughout the season, each character has their own share of relationship problems. Whether it be with someone outside of their team or within each other but none of them seem to last. When you're a police officer and a forensic investigator there really is no time for dating and relationships. The show mainly portrays the woman being strong and independent and that their job is more important than any guy. This show is targeted mainly for a mature audiance or anyone who likes watching crimes being solved. I would definitely give this show an A of how they portray woman.

GUSHERS!

I can remember like it was yesterday, every time I would sit down and watch TV with my parents, the Gushers commercial would always come on, a group of teenagers doing something, somewhere and they happen to have a Gushers pack and each person pops on in their mouth and bam, they're head turns into a fruit! I don't know about other kids, but that always amazed! I mean, who wouldn't want to turn into a fruit head?!

The commercial I chose was the Gushers Mall one. I always thought it was funny when the kids' head would pop into a fruit! At the end of the commercial it would always end with the guy in a deep voice saying "Gushers, taste the blast".

Association: Kids seeing this ad will see teenagers heads turn into fruit heads, they also see that the teenagers are usually having fun somewhere while this is happening.

Bribery: If you buy this product and eat it, your head will pop into whatever fruit gusher you ate.

Humor: When the teenagers ate the gushers on the elevator, their heads popped into fruits then they passed 2 other teenagers who had wild hair color and hairstyle, dressed all crazy and had piercings and tattoos, both groups looks at each other and thought the same of each other.

Plain Folks: They used ordinary kids so that makes other kids think "Hey if that can happen to them then it can happen to me! (more toward younger children)

Repetition: In the beginning of each Gushers ad the same guy says "Every Gushers piece is bursting with fruity juice" and at the end he says "Gushers, taste that blast". It was stuck in my head because every time I went to Cub Foods and pass it, I would quote the guy!

the SUPER BOWL.

When people advertise, the number one thing is to make sure you're targeting people who are interested in the product or can relate to it. So the main people who are actually paying attention to the game and are tuned in are young adults, single men, group of men watching the game together, and during most Super Bowls, little parties are thrown and alcohol, pop and junk are obviously at the party. Chances are, people are already consuming alcohol, so the best thing to do is to advertise more alcohol to influence people to buy more (even though the liquor store is closed on Sunday's). Young adults and teens are also watching the game, some probably don't watch football on a regular base, but the Super Bowl is just one of those things that just has to be on, just because. So why not throw in fast food advertisements? The majority of young adults and teens already do eat fast food, so seeing it in a commercial shown in a funny way just might get them to be like "Ooh that looks good, we should go grab some after".

YOUR VOTE!

It's that time of year again! VOTING TIME!
As an American citizen, I strongly think that we should all vote when elections come around. Why? Well, one day you're going to complain that this person didn't do this so well and that person should have did this instead.. To me, a person who doesn't vote (besides underage) shouldn't really have that chance of complaining. If you want the place around you to get better, let it be known and cast your vote. One vote DOES make a difference.

For the recent presidential election, I was not old enough to vote, but I can tell you right now, Obama definitely had me if I was able to - and no, it was not because he was black! I mean, hooray!! someone who isn't white can be in the office now! But I could honestly care less what color you are. Even if you were Asian, I need to see that you have the standards and potential to run this country. McCain to me was just a little too elderly (not to be mean), and I barely saw what he could bring to the table. It's not really my job to go and find out who you are. You're the one spending millions on campaign ads for me to see, so there's your chance to get my attention- which he failed.

Everyone is different and has their own opinion on things. This was just a little bit of mine. I don't usually pay attention to any other elections beside the presidential one.

c h a r a c t e r .

Character ; the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing.

It's something that you want to have in order to stand out or be recognized - especially if you're running for office. The thing people see when they look at someone is their appearance. There's always that saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" but majority of the time, that's how things are looked upon. If you're well suited, groomed your hair, and your face and you look presentable, you will at least pass to look like a normal human being. But if you come on television with some ripped up clothes, haven't shaved for days face, then you tend to look like someone who needs more help rather than someone who is going to help the country.

This shows that image is very important to our society today. It's not our fault, it's just how things are and it's something that we can't change. You're always taught to do the right things in life but somehow you're always going to know the bad even if you weren't taught. The way I think of it, the more presentable you look, the more confident you can be and that's always a plus in my book.

DOWNLOADING MUSIC.

Yes, I'll admit it.. I do download music illegally, but who doesn't? I know hundreds of people who do it! The way I think about it; why buy a CD that costs up to twelve or fifteen dollars if I only like 2 or 3 songs on there? In the past I was all about "collecting" CD's from artists that I liked, then my mom asked me one day if I even listen to all the songs on all of my CD's, and I don't. Then I found out how to download one specific song that I like, and its way more convenient and of course, saves me money. If I did get caught, no the downloading wouldn't have been worth it because I would have to pay 10 times of what I would have had to pay if I just bought the CD. Times are hard right now, people don't have jobs (like me) and I have a baby on the way, the last thing I wanna do is go out and BUY a CD! I understand that artists need to make money or profit off of their talent, but exactly what do I get in return for buying your CD that only has one or two good songs I actually like in there? Nothing. But if it came down to it, and I got caught, of course I would stop downloading illegally, and I would stop listening to that person too. So it can go both ways. I don't get your music, why bother being a fan, and I know many who would say the same.
